Yet Another Splotch Monster

I call this one summer fun. Considering how hot it's been around here for the last month or so, it's no wonder that my monster is eating an ice cream.

Splotch Monster - Desert Pet

I call this one Desert Pet because it reminds me of a camel a bit, but also have a slight hint of dog in it. Might be just my imagination, but you know what, I'd love to have such a silly looking pet.

Splotch Monster - Smiling Sue

The monster for today is girly, trendy and friendly lady. I am calling her Smiling Sue.

Splotch Monster - The Performer

Another day, another splotch monster. I had too much blank space on top, so I drew a curtain there. I think it works well with this particular monster.

Splotch Monster - A Playful Giant

For a change I scanned the initial splotch before I turned it into a monster.

Splotch Monster - A Blushing Flyer

This looks like a flying doggy to me. Wouldn't such a monster be super cute and cool?

Splotch Monster - Shy Redhead

Winged, nude, redhead, splotch monster.

Did it late at night. I had no intention to go this way, but the splotch monsters have a mind of their own.

Bridgen

Diva's Challenge #73 - Us My Tangle - Bridgen

Bridgen is one of those tangles that looks easy, but then proves to be tricky once you try it, at least that was so for me. I went through several unsuccessful attempts before I ended up with this one.

I will salvage the "failures" sometime soon.

Flowers From Templates #1

I recently stumbled upon Ana Navas' awesome Flickr flower tutorials and decided to try a few. I used atc sized paper which is small and convenient. This is just the first of a few I made so far:

Dots and Drops

Just a little abstract made mostly from dot and drop shapes and finished off with a bit of shading.

Salvaging Cards Example #2

Today I have another example of a card salvaged from a failed Diva's Challenge attempt.

At the point of giving up on using it for the challenge:

After I worked on it and finished it:

I am pleased with how this turned out. Could have done a better job with the paradoxes, but overall, I think it's fine.

Acrylics

It's been a very long time since I last painted with acrylics. This angry-ish looking cat is my tiny comeback piece.

I sketched it on a page of an old book, then cut it out and glued it (with acrylic gel medium that I used for the first time ever) onto a piece of a scrap cardboard and finished it with acrylics. You can see some of the letters coming through a little bit in places. It was fun. I'll be doing more of that soon.

Looplopp Flower

I am really enjoying using colors with tangles. Here's my latest creation:

I used basic Looplopp for the flowers. It's a really nice tangle with great variations.

Salvaging Cards Example #1

I had a bit of trouble with Diva's Challenge #68. I had to abandon a couple of cards (I worked in the ATC format) before I got it right. In the spirit of Zentangle and the philosophy that no attempt is a failure I set out to salvage the cards I already started, but that were not good for the challenge.

Here's the first card at the point when I decided it would not work for the challenge:

And here it is after I finished it:

Not perfect, not great, but it was a good practice.

Tangled Fish

This one started out as a doodle. There were numerous moments when I thought I should just abandon it, but I kept working on it and in the end I didn't think it deserved to end up in the trash.
