Theme for this week's Illustration Friday is yield. I mixed the idea of creating something for this challenge with my desire to continue learning to make new patterns and here's the result:

I think it fits the challenge theme well with all the products of nature that I fit into the picture. I tried a lot of new patterns with this one. Some I really liked, some not so much. Overall I am happy with the result, although I do think the butterfly is too busy. What do you think?

  1. I don't know. I think butterfly's patterns are supposed to be busy. This is lovely. The designs have a kind of thickness to them, that gives the butterfly a lot of solidity....

  2. I loved the patterns on the butterfly; I don't think it's busy at all. Floral designs are lovely as well.

  3. I really like it! I love studying the patterns and details in the wings and body as well as the framing decorations.

  4. (Apologies if this is a repeat but I think my comment disappeared! That happens to me once in a while, probably user error.)
Lovely patterns! And the gray wash you added in places adds really great depth. I really like those cherries (or grapes or olives?) whatever they are, I like them! Very nicely done.

  5. Wow! Beautiful work : symmetrical & free-flowing all in one!
